Not all seeds comes in a nice printed package. We were at Denton Texas, where we visited a local farm store : Dennis Farm Store. In the store, the seeds are all in plastic contaner, and you just spoon the seeds into a bag, write the name down and pay at the counter. We wasn’t sure if it will grow. But it did, right here in Hong Kong. Check it...
Using discarded ikea furniture, recycle wood and pallets, we built a Hydroponics Tower system, completely indoor. Based in Hong Kong, having any space to grow anything is very hard. Going vertical is a great way to grow more. This is our first time using ZipGrow Tower. As you can see, our basils loved it. Our lights are mounted on pallets with wheels so that we can get to the plants when we need it. Check it out
Why is rocket salad so expensive in Hong Kong? We managed to grow some out of our trofast bucket outdoor. The bugs does not seem to care too much about the rocket strong and bitter taste. No bugs so far. It grew as big as my palm. Time to harvest.
If you are wondering what happen to the Hydro Drip Tower after the mini maker faire, here are the answers. They have grown quite well under the bug net. The root have grown into the water itself. But it has some bug problems. It always happen when we bring the plants outside. We are hoping that the plants will start producing flowers and give us seeds that are more resistant to the bugs, stronger than before.
Here we are at Mini Maker Faire 2014 Hong Kong, showing off our DIY HydroDrip and Hydro dalek project. This year we are trying vertical growing with PVC pipes that we built. A internal blue bucket spray system with pvc pipes in a circular position. Thank you for all the people that came visiting us.
